Grace's & Lydia's Period Hacks

CRAMPS? LEAKS? WE'VE GOT FIXES FOR THAT!

Cramps are the worst but you’ve got options:

  • Warm up: Grab a Heat Hug from your Shh.Kit! A heating pad, warm water bottle or cozy bath can calm your muscles and cramps.
  • Move: Light exercise (like walking or stretching) gets your blood flowing and releases endorphins - they are your body’s built-in mood boosters.
  • Hydrate: Water helps with bloating. Drink up!
  • OTC Help: If your cramps are really bad, talk to a parent about trying a pain reliever like ibuprofen.

As for leaks - they happen. Just wrap your sweatshirt around your waist and grab your Shh.Kit!

SLEEP, SNACKS AND STAYING ACTIVE

When you have your period, your energy might dip a bit. Here’s the trifecta that we think of as our secret  combo:

  • Sleep: Try to get at least 8 hours. Your body’s doing a lot when you have your period and rest helps balance hormones and mood.
  • Snacks: Go for foods with iron and magnesium (think dark chocolate, bananas, trail mix or oatmeal) which help fight fatigue and cravings.
  • Stay active: A light walk or stretch can keep your body feeling good. You don’t need to skip practice, dance class or gym - just take breaks if and when your body tells you to.

OUTFIT IDEAS: STAYING COMFY & CUTE

Your outfit makes a difference in how you feel. Here are some outfit ideas:

  • Bottoms: Loose joggers, leggings or high-waisted jeans — nothing too tight on your stomach.
  • Tops: Oversized hoodies, cropped sweatshirts or soft tees — cozy but still cute.
  • Underwear: Dark colors, breathable cotton or period underwear for backup power.

Basically, wear what makes you feel like you and stay comfy at the same time.

HOW TO CHANGE A PAD AT SCHOOL (SUPER DISCREetLY)

Here’s how to pull off a stealthy pad change like a pro:

  1. Take a pad from your Shh.Kit and put it in your pocket or sleeve…or just take your Shh.Kit to the bathroom.
  2. Find the nearest bathroom. Open the new pad (there are super quiet wrappers now) in a stall and call it a day!
  3. Wrap the used pad in toilet paper and toss it in the trash - never the toilet!
  4. Wash your hands and smile because you just handled that like a total boss!

If you’re nervous about leaks, stash an extra pair of underwear in your backup bag (just in case).

Self-Care (& Love)

Five moods in one day? You're not alone!

it is totally normal to feel extra emotional

One minute you’re laughing at a TikTok, the next you’re crying because a sappy commercial came on. Those are your hormones!

When you have, or are about to get your period, your hormones go crazy, which can make your emotions swing from yay to ugh. You might feel mad, teary, sensitive or just off. You're not being dramatic - that’s just your body adjusting. The cool part? You’re learning how to tune into your body.

Emotions are like waves: they come, they go and they don’t last long.

love the body you're in

Let’s keep it real: your body is changing. Some days you feel awkward; some days you feel awesome. Your body is growing, stretching and figuring things out, just like you are.

The next time you look in the mirror: say one kind thing about yourself: “My smile is cute.” “My legs are strong.” “I’m actually kinda amazing.”

Remember that no one notices your “flaws” like you do and remind yourself that it’s not about being perfect - it’s about being confident.

Stay strong, Power ON: Keep Calm, comfy and confident

Here’s the secret: no one can tell you have your period. Stay fresh by changing your pad every 3–4 hours, showering daily and wearing breathable, cotton underwear. Drink water, move a little and rest when your body says “chill.”

Your period doesn’t stop you from doing anything (sports, sleepovers or swimming - once you’re ready for tampons or period swimwear). Your period is your body doing its thing.

You’ve got this. Stay strong, power on and remember: every girl has been there.
