What this policy covers
This policy covers the Shh.Kit iPhone/iPad app.
It does not cover the shhkit.com website, which is a separate thing and does collect some information — the site uses analytics cookies and offers a newsletter sign-up. If you use the website as well as the app, see the website privacy notice for how that works. The app collects nothing. The website is not the app.
The short version
The Shh.Kit app does not collect any information about you. There is no account, no sign-up, and the app does not send data anywhere. Everything you enter stays on your own device.
We are not able to see what you log, because we never receive it.
What we collect
Nothing.
Shh.Kit makes no network requests. It has no server, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party software development kits of any kind. The app functions completely in airplane mode, permanently.
Specifically, we do not collect:
Information you enter, and where it lives
The app lets you record the days of your period, how heavy your flow is, symptoms such as cramps or tiredness, how you are feeling, and private notes.
All of it is stored only on your device, using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData). It is never uploaded, backed up to us, transmitted, sold, shared or analysed by us or anyone else.
If you delete the app, that information is deleted with it.
Predictions about when your next period may arrive are calculated on your device from the days you have logged. No calculation happens anywhere else.
Notifications
If you turn on reminders, the app asks iOS to show you two notifications: one three days before your predicted window and one the day before.
These are local notifications, scheduled by your own phone. They are not push notifications — there is no server involved and no device token is created or sent to us. The reminder text is deliberately worded so that it does not disclose anything sensitive if it appears on a lock screen.
You can turn reminders off at any time in the app, or in iOS Settings.
Children's privacy
The Shh.Kit app is intended for girls approaching or experiencing their first period, which means many users are under 13.
We have designed the app so that the question of collecting a child's personal information does not arise: there is no mechanism in the app to collect personal information. There is no registration, no login, no messaging, no profile, no analytics and no network connection.
Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we do not need to obtain verifiable parental consent under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in order to operate the app, and we hold no children's data that a parent could need to review or request deletion of.
There is also no user-generated content and no social features. The quotes shown in the app's "Real Talk" section are written editorial content, not submissions from users. Nothing a user enters can be seen by another user.
Links out of the app
The app contains one link out — to buy the physical Shh.Kit. That link sits behind a parental gate: a task designed so that a young child cannot pass it unaided.
Once you follow that link you are on a third-party website, which has its own privacy policy and its own practices. We do not control those, and this policy does not cover them.
Third parties
We do not share information with third parties because we do not have any information to share.
The app contains no advertising networks, no analytics providers, no crash reporting services and no social media integrations.
Data retention and deletion
Since we receive no data, we retain none.
The information stored on your device stays there until you delete it. You can clear an individual day by removing everything you logged for it, or remove all of it by deleting the app.
Security
The information you enter is protected by your device's own security — your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and iOS's built-in file protection. Because nothing is transmitted, there is no data in transit to intercept and no server of ours to breach.
Your rights
Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal information, and to know whether it is sold.
We can confirm plainly: we hold no personal information about you. There is nothing for us to disclose, correct, delete, port or sell. The information you entered is on your device, under your control, and you can delete it at any time.
We do not and will not sell personal information.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top. Any change that made the statement "we collect nothing" untrue would be a significant change, and we would say so clearly rather than quietly amending this page.
